Everybody Is Somebody
Paul Wong, 2008
Live Public Art Event

Saturday December 8, 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm
at Pigeon Park, the InterUrban Gallery and Centre A
as part of the Intersection Project : Lighting up the Carroll Street Greenway

This was a media art event using recorded and live video/photo projections. Paul Wong was the lead artist for this participatory event that involved the collaboration of young students in the development of the project. Everybody Is Somebody was created for the Pigeon Park community, located in the Downtown East Side, Canada’s poorest postal code. It is mostly known as an open market place for drugs, homelessness and prostitution. This inclusive event invited neighbors, street people, merchants, artists, and the general public to engage in an event that highlighted the diversity of the neighborhood. The event literally lit up the park.
